How to Gain More Presence on Social Media

Social media is where everyone’s at nowadays. With about 59% of the global population using some sort of social media platform, it makes sense that you would want to build some presence. After all, you go where your audience is.

The main issue is that if you want to be there, your competition is probably there as well. So, you need to stand out – to set yourself apart from the crowd. But what are some good ways to do so? Here are a couple of tips for you to keep in mind.

1.    Use the Right Platform

Each platform has its strong points, attracting different categories of people. Depending on what you are offering, you may want to choose the appropriate social media platform. This way, you will reach the right target audience.

For instance, if you are in the business industry, you may benefit more from using Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter. On the other hand, if you are an artist or a photographer, you may need a more visual platform. Instagram, TikTok, or Pinterest may be more helpful in your situation.

2.   Keep the Content Fresh

Your audience will always be looking for something new. You may be tempted to post the same links over and over again, to make them remember the content. Still, doing that will only annoy users.

Keep the content fresh, with information that differentiates you from your competition. This will keep the audience hooked to your page. If you can’t do much to change the information, simply work with the content style. Post a video or an infographic now and again. Make it different to keep things interesting.

3.   Engage With Your Audience

Social media is a place where everyone gets together and becomes (obviously) social. If you are there, you can’t just sit in a corner and be silent. No one will notice you this way, and they will also think you don’t care enough to engage with them.

Try to connect with your audience through polls, quizzes, comments, and live videos. Answer their questions – make them see that you care. By connecting with your followers, you may also create targeted campaigns that will bring potential customers your way.

4.   Stay Active and Consistent

To be remembered by your social media followers, they need to be able to see you. And for them to see you, it is essential to create frequent posts. Otherwise, they will just forget that you exist, and you will simply fade into the background.

While being active, you may also try to stay consistent. If your posting schedule is all over the place, your audience won’t know when to expect your content. Try posting at least twice a week – for example, Tuesday and Friday. Figure out when your audience is most active and let them expect your posts.

5.   Create a Brand Voice and Stick to It

Nothing makes you lose your audience more than confusing them with a changing brand voice. Your schedule is not the only thing that should stay consistent; your identity should stay the same.

Clients feel more connected to you if they feel they caught a grasp of you. Once they do, they will recommend you to their friends. If you write in one brand voice now and change it on the next post, they will be confused and likely disappointed. This won’t help your online presence.

6.   Follow Current Trends and Events

Trends are there for a reason. Once something is trending, it is very likely to go viral. And we all know how good viral content is good for your audience. Once something is no longer popular, people will not share it. This will eventually affect your social media presence.

This is why you need to keep an eye on the trends. By posting about matters of interest or popular things, you tell your audience that you are always up to date with what’s going on in the industry. You see what matters to them and then you pitch your content or service accordingly.

Similarly, you should also keep an eye on current events. Nowadays, companies are expected to hold a stance when it comes to social issues. For example, in a time of social unrest, this can be as simple as releasing a statement or withholding any posts for a day. It will send a message to your audience.

The Bottom Line

Social media is always changing. However, with a good strategy, you should be able to connect more with your audience. This will ultimately bring more visitors to your profile(s).
